La isla de la primavera eterna

Hello from Tenerife!

It is still officially winter in Tenerife. + 26 degrees Celsius and a hot burning sun kinda wintery weather. Managed to get sunburnt on the first day. It wasn't even that sunny that day!

Mom got a 2-week long work thing here. I'm here for the first week, practising my spanish, translating for her and well who am I kidding, enjoying the sun.

It's a lovely island in the Canary islands, officially part of Spain, but they prefer not being called Spanish. A typical southern country, lots of siesta and fiesta, public transportation is infrequent, but on the plus-side there are free buses to go to the suburbs and shopping centres, highway code is... voluntary, but people are smiley, happy, carefree and generous, enjoy a chat with strangers. They eat out a lot, go out with their whole families, that often involve 3-4 generations.

The flight back was very memorable not in the best way. We were leaving on time,  already on the runway getting the speed up, when there was a loud bang, some fire and sparks - and the plane hit heavily on the breaks. A tyre bursted. Everybody had to get out of the plain back to the terminal. They said it'd be an hour which became into many hours. It came out there was also a fault in the engine, so basically thank god for that tyre. We had to wait for a new plane and in 4 hours took off. The flight home was smooth but very very quiet, nobody felt comfortable and was waiting to be safely on the ground.

Jordan vol 2: Wadi Rum, Aqaba, Al Karak, Dead Sea

From Petra we drove a couple hours towards the Wadi Rum desert, headed first to the Wadi Rum village to register ourselves, then left our car at the designated area at the beginning of the desert and met our host who drove us into the desert in his truck.

Pinkpop vol 2, Megaland, NL

Second time at Pinkpop festival (second year in a row, in fact) and still impressed! The weather was a bit more eventful this year, as last year was a complete heatwave. This year, we got heavy rain on the first day, perfect mild, sunny weather on the second day, and back to the heat on the third day.
