walk the line

 We went to an international choir competition with our choir for the first time this June. It went quite well, so we are already thinking about a next one. This time, the competition took us to the international Krakow choir festival Crakovia Cantans. I've been to Krakow a couple times before and will happily always go back. Definitely my favourite Polish town. This post will just be a quick recap, for actual information on the city: try here . 

 Cyprus is always a good idea. It's a great off-season destination as well. I've been there in January and still been able to swim in the sea and get some tan on. This time we went in the last week of April and it was definitely summer already!

    Was craving for a vacation somewhere warm but new, also not too far and not too expensive. Tunisia had been on the list for quite some time. Some history, some sun, good food, very few tourists, chaotic citylife.  It was great! 

   December 2025. Another attempt to escape Estonian winter, mud and darkness (right before 2 months of beautiful snowy winter), stock up on vitamin D, and not completely forget how to surf.

   We bought tickets to see Linkin Park in Milan a while ago. When June was approaching, flight schedules had changed and traveling to Milan had suddenly become quite expensive (there have been times I have flown back and forth with around 30 eur). As weather in Estonia wasn't that great anyhow, decided to take a bit longer vacation. Fly into Treviso and went to Venice. I had been to "mainland" Venice several times before, but never to Venice Beach.

   Warsaw, June 2025. Had a quick work trip to Warsaw during Polish Presidency term. Always nice to be back. As close as it is to Estonia, the last time I was in Warsaw , was exactly 10 years ago. 

   Beginning of March, we went to visit our lovely friends and snowboard a little. As they live not too far from Helsinki and we only went for a long weekend, we did not go to the north, but opted for some smaller resorts near Espoo and Kirkonummi. Still more slopes than in Estonia. Also, did some sightseeing and walking around, cooked together and had a great time. Fun fact, we chose the warmest weekend to go, which is not the greatest for hitting the slopes. It was +10 degreed on couple of the days..

   Early February, headed to Munich for a concert and a fun couple of days with Inx. We got really lucky with the weather. Although early in the morning we landed in complete fog (as you do apparently every time, you fly to Munich), the days were sunny and quite warm for February. So we walked around a lot, did a lot of window-shopping, some actual shopping, ate and sipped a couple cocktails.

   January 2025. 

  October 2024. As it was Hungary's Presidency term, our first autumn meeting took us to Budapest. As I have been to Budapest before, there was not much touristing around, more touristy info here and here . 

 Porto had been on my list for a while, so now, when I was already almost on the border of Spain and Portugal, I had to visit.

 July 2024.  Took a train (and a bus, thanks to Renfe) from Valladolid to San Sebastian! I have not truly explored north of Spain, ever, so about time to rectify the situation.

    May 2024.  Had once been to Bruges (Brugge) to tourist around ( look here ), but as there was a conference and a regular EJN meeting right after each other, there was still enough time to enjoy the beauty of the city.

  Arrived in Montreal during noon and as all previous days had been very much full of steps and kilometres, decided to take a rest day. Got some food and chilled in the sun on the hostels rooftop. 

Hello Canada! It was a long drive from Chicago to Toronto, but for how cheap it was, it was worth it. Also, there is a certain charm about long bus rides for me. Always meet interesting people and hear interesting stories. There were a couple long-distance bus-drivers on it, riding to their next job destination, so, got to hear a bit of their life and adventures.
