London - Paris and reunion with my WVU people

Happy new year, may it become an unforgettable one!

Starting from the summer of 2011 when I decided to get out of my comfort zone, my view on world has changed completely. I believe, when you get the taste of what is out there, you start wanting more and more.. knowledge, adventures, travels, new experiences, accomplishments.. You give more from yourself and become more sincere and open and realize, that the saying "everything is possible" is not a cliche.

On 28th of December took a RyanAir flight to London, considering my history with planes, it was one of the smoothest-going flights I have ever had, and the ticket was 23 euros. Met an old friend and had a fun evening. Didn't get much sleep as he lived quite far from Kings Cross station and I had to take a train pretty early next morning.

Once in Paris, met Anastasia, Marcus and Hugo for lunch, as we were staying close to Italian plaza, had italian. Met the others a little later, and at night went to an Aussie bar called OZ. It was a cool place. The ticket was pretty expensive but included a fancy cocktail. The music was great, lot of dancing and random fun. Starting from the next day we started being tourists at the day-time and bar-hoppers at night. Perfect balance. The absolute "highlight" was the 3.5 hour line up to Eiffel Tower, half-way through nobody even wanted to go up any more, but then it became a matter of principle, we were waiting for an hour and a half already, can't stop now. If it wouldn't have been all the word games and Will's logo game, we would have gone crazy, in the end it was quite fun, but after that nobody of us wanted to see any line ever again!

At some point walked to Arc the Triumphe, where we did the ultimate road crossing. The arc is situated in the middle of a huge roundabout. I mean it - huge. To go to it you have to actually go through a tunnel, but as we were on the other side and too lazy to go to the tunnel, we saw some people crossing the road through the cars pretty successfully. Decided to do the same. Picked our time very carefully and... failed miserably. Ca 10 people, running over the road, and suddenly cars behind us, in front of us, signaling at us, we just started laughing and tried to move forward, as we anyways were in the middle already, succeeded in the end, but it sure was epic.

Another touristy fail was when we were standing up at Montmartre in front of Sacre-Coeur church, and asked a shopkeeper where is the huge church and the stairs up to it. She was confused, and when Hugo asked the same thing from her in fluent french, she was like are you guys kidding me?! The problem was, Morten was the only one who had been there and he remembered it to be bigger and different. Montmartre and the artists region there is one of my favorite places in Paris.

A daytrip to Versaille.

New Years Eve we spent in Vianney's parents apartment. The beginning was so classy, a really really beautiful upper-class'ish apartment, great french food and we all dressed up, sitting around the table, discussing things, until.. popped open the champagnes, played some drinking games and loco games, had a salsa party. Was a really great way to welcome the new year!

Weather was sunny, warm enough to sit in outdoor cafes and bars. To walk of a lot.

I still love all our discussions about politics, music, movies, history.. everything possible, we always had. And the jokes that come out of them. Haven't laughed this much in a long time. It brought up all the WVU stories and memories..

Going to miss you all, until next time!!

Jordan vol 2: Wadi Rum, Aqaba, Al Karak, Dead Sea

From Petra we drove a couple hours towards the Wadi Rum desert, headed first to the Wadi Rum village to register ourselves, then left our car at the designated area at the beginning of the desert and met our host who drove us into the desert in his truck.

Pinkpop vol 2, Megaland, NL

Second time at Pinkpop festival (second year in a row, in fact) and still impressed! The weather was a bit more eventful this year, as last year was a complete heatwave. This year, we got heavy rain on the first day, perfect mild, sunny weather on the second day, and back to the heat on the third day.
