Autumn stories

Friends from Germany were visiting Tallinn as a part of their journalism project. They interviewed us on the topic about studying in Estonia, so we are totally famous in German media now. Kidding aside, we showed them old town of Tallinn, visited some hip places and had a jenga marathon on a monday night at Red Emperor's bar with some Erasmus exchange students. Mondays out can be much fun.

Baked some good old apple-cake with my grandmother. I'm always asked what is the traditional cuisine of Estonia. And I never know exactly what to say, this could sure be one of them. And it suits perfectly into a chilly autumny after-work afternoon, with a huge cup of (self-grown) peppermint tea.

Visited Ingrid to catch up, Annabel is growing so fast!

Went to see Woody Allen's newest movie "Blue Jasmine". If you enjoy Woody, you'll enjoy this. Even more, it's one of his best probably. The same movie from somebody else and with less awesome casting would've sucked pretty bad, but Cate Blanchett portrayed the "bit"insane woman on the edge of nervous breakdown brilliantly, Sally Hawkins's naivety and Bobby Cannavale and Andrew Dice Clay as so-called working-class losers were spot on as well.

Also watched, "Stuck in Love" - a sweet indie flick. Nice cast, fast-moving movie, likeable characters. Has it's cliches, and is quite predictable but all in all a good story story about a bit complex family, mainly concentrating on their emotions and feelings.

Secondly, "Drinking buddies" - a film about two best friends portrayed by Jake Johnson and Olivia Wilde, who are both in relationships with other people, one more successfully than the other. Focuses on the small things. It portrays adult relationships really well, not just love, but also friendships. It doesn't dig deep into the characters which I usually ask from a movie, but in this case I did not mind.

Went to Tallinn International Horse Show. Intense competitions that give even the spectators such a rush of adrenaline. And such nostalgia. Around ten years ago, we went to these competitions a lot with some class-mates. I used to ride back then. And loved it. It is quite an expensive hobby so couldn't keep it up for a long time. It'd be cool to work on a farm where they have horses in Australia, or at least take up riding a couple of times here and there.

October is a pretty shitty month usually. One reason to love it is that new seasons of several awesome tv-series start. Including, my personal favorites "Homeland" and "Scandal". And Claire Danes is probably one of the most amazing actresses, period. She absolutely deserves the Emmy win, the second consecutive win for portraying Carrie Mathison in "Homeland. Speaking of Emmys, I'm also happy that "The Voice" won an Emmy.

A writer lived in Astor-Place cube in NYC - this is crazy. I remember coming from a couchsurfing meetup last year around 4am with a bunch of people. And somebody had never spun the cube around, so of course all of us loudly and happily started to spin the cube. And I believe the same kinda situation happened there pretty much every day and night. Can't imagine, how this place could be defined "calm in the eye of the storm" when living inside it.

Also, there is the "Global Citizen Festival" on the 28th of September in NYC. If I would still be in the city I would've been a volunteer on the event. The line-up is amazing. Stevie Wonder, Kings of Leon, Alicia Keys and John Mayer headlining. If you are near NY, please go out there! A great event for a great cause.

Jordan vol 2: Wadi Rum, Aqaba, Al Karak, Dead Sea

From Petra we drove a couple hours towards the Wadi Rum desert, headed first to the Wadi Rum village to register ourselves, then left our car at the designated area at the beginning of the desert and met our host who drove us into the desert in his truck.

Pinkpop vol 2, Megaland, NL

Second time at Pinkpop festival (second year in a row, in fact) and still impressed! The weather was a bit more eventful this year, as last year was a complete heatwave. This year, we got heavy rain on the first day, perfect mild, sunny weather on the second day, and back to the heat on the third day.
