Had the last worktrip of 2022 to Brussels in mid December, so decided to fly in a bit earlier and visit some places we'd wanted to visit for some time. Went to Zurich in Switzerland and did a daytrip to Liechtenstein from there. And later on our way to Brussels, had half a day to discover Strasbourg! Awesome mini roadtrip.
Took a FlixBus from Milan to Zurich, such a treat as most of the road was filled with these beautiful views.
Zurich is known as the financial capital of Switzerland and is the largest and busiest city of the country. I somehow expected it to be all glass and business-y but it's actually very lovely and laid back by general atmosphere. The old town, Altstadt is filled with narrow little streets and leading to the waterfront of lake Zurich. As it was close to Christmas, there was carolling and several Christmas markets across the city. Also, there was a marathon on the day we got there, so roads were filled with happy-healthy runners and getting from point A to point B was a bit more difficult.

As Zurich is quite expensive to be in, we found this capsule hostel "Green Marmot Capsule Hotel Zürich", that was quite decent-priced. It could use a kitchen or some common areas tho, the whole hostel is pretty much capsules. The capsules themselves were comfy and spacious enough, just a bit of room for bags would be a great addition!
A trendy district of Zurich-West. As in most cities it was the industrial part of town, full of factories where ships or engines were built and now has emerged into an area of art, design, food, culture shopping and architecture.
Frau Gerolds Garten
The vibrant feel-good oasis at the foot of the Prime Tower, full of tiny stores, food kiosks, art and gardens
Went to eat at "Les Halles" - a trendy, huge restaurant/bar near Zurich-West.
Liechtenstein is an hour away from Zurich by train. Another ride full of mountains, lakes and jaw-dropping views.
The train took us close to the border, from there 15 minutes by a local bus and in the middle of Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein we were.
Liechtenstein is the sixth smallest country in the world, with a total area of 158 km² and a population of 39 000. It’s Europe’s fourth smallest country and the second least-visited country in Europe. Very underrated if you ask me. It's gorgeous!
Small they are, but brew their own beers
And final stop - Strasbourg - a Christmas capital, and fully deserving this name!
Strasbourg Cathedral or the Cathedral of Our Lady of Strasbourg is the 6th tallest church in the world and the highest still standing extant structure built entirely in the Middle Ages.
Flammkuchen!
Obviously went to witness Brussels Christmassy streets as well after meeting days, especially enjoy the neon Alice in Wonderland feels.
And Thon hotel offers free mulled wine during Christmas!
