Italy June 2025: Treviso, Venice, Milan, Lecco

We bought tickets to see Linkin Park in Milan a while ago. When June was approaching, flight schedules had changed and traveling to Milan had suddenly become quite expensive (there have been times I have flown back and forth with around 30 eur). As weather in Estonia wasn't that great anyhow, decided to take a bit longer vacation. Fly into Treviso and went to Venice. I had been to "mainland" Venice several times before, but never to Venice Beach.

Treviso

Took a vaporetto - a water bus from Venice to Lido di Venezia. The breezy ride takes a little longer than 30 minutes from Piazzale Roma and offers great views of Venice on the way.

Lido di Venezia is an island that sits in-between the Adriatic Sea and the Venetian lagoon. Narrow island of 11 kilometers long full of beaches, canals, rural areas, hotels and beach clubs. An absolutely lovely destination in summer. It's also home to Venice Film Festival.

It was around 37 degrees, so straight to the beach!

The canals make the island pretty much as picturesque as Venice itself.

On my way home from the evening stroll, accidentally stumbled upon an amazing choir performing next to Palazzo del Casino - The Big Vocal Orchestra - a huge show choir known for their impactful full length concert performances all over. They have around 200-250 members and are the biggest vocal group in Italy, possibly in Europe with a diverse style and dramatic and powerful sound.

Couldn't leave without a refreshing morning swim!

Back to Mainland! A ferry, a citybus and a Flixbus of around 4 hours later and I was in as hot, if not hotter Milan..

.. and oh so ready for Aperol.

Restaurant Osteria da Fortunata! One of the best carbonaras I've eaten!

As it was close to 40 degrees in the city, took a train to Lecco for some lake time. Lecco is one of the closest and easily accessible towns of lake Como to Milan.

So that things wouldn't be too boring (read:easy), the train we wanted to take just didn't exist. Was listed on online schedules and ticket machines at Stazione Centrale, just not actually there. No explanation or anything, just deleted from the board that day. Luckily there were other reasonable options. Other than that, it took around 45 and we were in the picturesque town surrounded by mountains.

There is less beach, more promenades in Lecco, but one can still easily find swimming places. It's less touristic and crowded than many other more famous towns around lake Como and is just charming to stroll around and enjoy the scenery.

We were quite unpopular when we wanted to sit outside for lunch. The restaurant would have preferred to keep all guests in air-conditioned inside dining hall. They made faces but didn't say anything at first. Soon after we received our food they came back to our table and asked us to move inside as there was a storm coming. It was truly the bluest and calmest day, so we were quite skeptical and sure they just wanted us inside. A little after we had finished lunch tho and were walking, suddenly the sky changed and offered us a quick refreshing downpour. Our waiter didn't lie after all. They obviously know their mountain-weather better. As out of nowhere as the rain came it also disappeared and back to the blissful summer-weather.

Less than a week before, there had been severe storms. There were winds reaching 100 km per hour that took down the city's ferris wheel. Luckily there was no one on it or in close proximity when the accident happened.

I will never get tired of (or say no to) aperativo!

Finally, Linkin Park day!

Starting the day right.

The concert was part of the I-Days festival happening over several different dates in June and July. Although we had read some negative reviews before, everything was surprisingly well organized and functioning well, especially considering there were around 80 000 people. And the concert itself was absolutely epic!

   January 2025.

Munich, Germany

Early February, headed to Munich for a concert and a fun couple of days with Inx. We got really lucky with the weather. Although early in the morning we landed in complete fog (as you do apparently every time, you fly to Munich), the days were sunny and quite warm for February. So we walked around a lot, did a lot of window-shopping, some actual shopping, ate and sipped a couple cocktails.
