Simple Plan

Incredible nostalgia. Taking me back to when I was 15. It was such an important band when I was an angry teen. Haven't really listened to them in years but know every old song by heart. Such a great, personal concert! They're exactly like they were years ago. I love seeing people loving doing what they're doing.

see the music, hear the dance

The best thing about being done with school is to watch a movie on a Friday evening without feeling guilty that I'm not studying for some exam, learning some speech or writing my thesis paper. Graduation on the 17th of June! Watched "High Strung". So full of cliches, full of stereotypes, random and unrealistic moments, but all the dance scenes are great, the music is absolutely beautiful and the classical and the contemporary are mixed so well. Keenan Kampa is gorgeous! As a bonus there are some uplifting moments and heart-warming scenes. And the final dance is so worth sharing!

Helsinki, Finland

I've always thought Helsinki to be quite a random city to visit, maybe because it is so close and as a kid and early teen I've been there a million times, but also because there is not much to do. Well, we went to Mumford and The Sons concert on Saturday (I have to just stress out again how much I love bands that are true performers, their live was so good!). We stayed at Felix and Sara's seaside apartment and had a blast with them. Went for some turkish buffet for lunch, spent time in Kiasma (more like ran out of time), went for a few drinks to Molotov bar at the hipsterish area and walked around the areas I've never been to. After the concert met with their flatmate and his coworkers and had a lovely glass of wine at a central hotel. Helsinki can be heaps of fun!

How to write a masters thesis in 48 hours ?!   Long story short, although I was more-or-less done with my thesis by mid-march, I had to rewrite more than half of it in the last minute. I never wanna feel like how I felt on a Wednesday, 5 days before the date to hand the thesis in. In complete shock, hopeless and quite ready to give up. I am so so grateful to the people who were there for me and forced me to keep going.  Worked from Wednesday evening to Friday late afternoon quite non-stop and I was ready to send it again and headed to Käsmu myself for a long weekend full of dance and great moments. To receive a letter on Saturday afternoon, that I should finish my paper and hand it in on Monday, was incredible, and suddenly all these hundreds of thousands of lost nerve cells felt worth it.  Pictures by Kati!

Amsterdam, Netherlands

A beautiful long weekend!  April 2016

Spring stories

My first self-made pasha for Easter Eeva Talsi & Juhan Aru at National Library. Tallinn Music Week! TMW Talks: "Music and Politics" Pop-up restaurant Fellin. (Regularly based in Viljandi). Exquisite tastes, awesome customer service. This year I was the happiest that "The Elliots" returned to Tallinn. We met and heard them play first in the beginning of September at Red Emperor bar. As we had more or less recently returned from Australia and I cannot point out enough how much we adored and miss Aussie (especially Melbourne's) music scene, hearing a band from Melbs is in town required being checked out. Verdict: they're awesome!  And Julio came to visit! PS! Estonia was voted Lonely Planet's number one best value destination of 2016! Been experimenting with vegan cakes lately (peanut butter-coconut cream)
Another excellent song from Suits.

Love you, always!

Film and tv edition

Chills!!! Both, the song and the show. Suits Stealth - Judgement Day.    It's the Academy Awards season again!  Had already seen "The Big Short", "Steve Jobs" and "The Danish Girl". Now added: " Joy " - the typical awesome David O. Russells cast + a true story equals to a very enjoyable, feel-good, inspiring movie. " Room " - a thrilling yet terrific movie about redemption, hope and family bonds. " The Revenant " - I would never-ever watch it again. It's brutal, gripping, cold, disgusting, cinematographically beautifully made, well-acted... Bravo Inarritu. I have always since "Amores Perros" enjoyed his films. (not that I saw it in 2000 when i was 10 years old, but whenever I saw it). Some where complaining that Leo (YAY for the Oscar, finally!!) did barely say a word and all the gruesome stuff has been done before in Bear Grylls and whatnot.. I do think the movie deserves all the hype it got. " Br...
