Summer stories

We had a performance in Pärnu at a big national food festival, it was the 6th year that we have performed at that festival in different locations. Had 20 minutes for the showcases and freestyle. Got to try a lot of good food and wine after. We hitchhiked back with Sandra. Barely barely escaped a storm. Went to see Ingrid on wednesday. We had a lot to catch up. And her little girl is adorable! It was my birthday. Celebrated with family at the daytime and had a small party in the evening. I got to blow the candles from the cake three times. It was really sweet, as I think I was about 10, when last had as many candles on the cake as old I got. My family surprised me with a cake with 23 candles on it in the morning. My friends did the same in the evening. The third time, was when we went to eat lunch in an American restaurant with relatives and before leaving the waitress brought a chocolate cake with a candle on it and said it's on the house for my birthday. :)

"Some say that to believe in destiny is to dismiss the role of free will, but self-determination cannot prevail the presence of faith, and the truth is, the only part of destiny we can control is the fate we choose for another."

Camp of Hip Hop 2012 just ended, I don't know why but my emotions after are not as high as they have been every year before, I'm not sure if something was really missing or I just wasn't fully there.  Anyways, it was still an awesome week, many incredible and world-famous dancers all over the globe came to a small town in Estonia to share their knowledge and love of dance with us. Got a lot of knowledge and loved all the classes! The themed nights were not fully thought through in my opinion and the vibe at the parties could've been tighter.

Camp of hiphop 2011 at Käsmu! Very international this time. Great workshops: 5 classes each day, every teacher was a master in his/her style. Learned a lot. My favorite classes were: Kapela's ( far ) house and hype classes, but also Valja's ( rue )  old school  hip-hop and Meech's ( far ) hip-hop. I believe I learned the most there and for example Kapela gives so much energy and motivation to do extremely hype choreos with all the power left in me when I'm already so so tired and out of breath. Grateful!

Dance, love, live

Went to see some relatives with my mom in Pärnu and while in the neighbourhood went to Kurgja, a small place near Vändra which is  also the birthplace of C.R Jakobson and there's a museum for him, the place is in the woods, there are fields, farm animals, a river with a mill and a beautiful long bridge. The air is fresh and boosts with natural energy. We went to see a play. A piece by Eugene O'Neill " Desire under the Elms " produced by Roman Baskin. I have seen "Long day's journey into night" by O'Neill and I plan to read more of his work. All his pieces have passion, tragedy and unseen twists. Rasmus Kaljujärv, Katariina Lauk and Felix Kark played the main characters and they were fabulous in their roles. The plot is about the thin line between love and hate. People don't often recognize the line, feelings change so quickly they don't realise they can't take back their actions any more. The tragedy in O'Neills plays comes from his ...

Small small world

Z-Todd and marshmallow coq - aka - Estonian sounds dirty to foreigners. On Saturday we spent the last night with our friends from the States before sending them to the port. Last week was pure joy! Gonna miss you, all the jokes and carefree attitude.. And the curse, that the song we were talking about came from the radio within the next 10 minutes, it happened more than 3 times, so we kept on talking about great bands... It's like requesting songs from jukebox!  It is such a cool coincidence that Ryan and Mickey are from WVU - the university I got accepted in the States and am going next fall. They gave me some crucial information and told the best stories from their years in the uni. I guess I'll see you there! Fall 2011 - I simply cannot wait! Mid-July was Camp Of Hip-Hop. Every summer street-dancers of Estonia gather to learn from international superstars. Valuable information, hours and hours of dance, jams and after-parties. It's always leaves me ...
