Amsterdam, Netherlands

A beautiful long weekend!

April 2016

We both really needed a break and what's better than a city break. Only a short direct flight away. We were hoping for more warmth, but as the weather forecast promised rain, rain and only rain, I guess we were lucky. We heard rain in the mornings from our boathouse and really felt it only once one evening on our walk home. Other times when the occasional showers were showing their signs we just hopped into some cafeteria, museum or art gallery and skipped the rain. So, I can say we basically only saw sun. If it weren't so windy It would have been a perfect late spring weather. Amsterdam is lovely. Long walks, narrow streets, canals, canals and more canals, hazardous bikers, so much art and good coffee. What more can you desire from a long weekend in a beautiful city.

Amsterdam is a perfect city for a weekend. Three and a half days was exactly enough. Also I really recommend this IAmsterdam card that gives you free public transport, canal cruise and entrance to most museums, also discounts in many places across town.

The Public House of Art. The coolest (not a) gallery.

Living on a boat in Amsterdam is a unique experience!

Pancakes: Amsterdam. It doesn't look that spectacular, but tastes incredible. Worth a try and wait, as the place is small and there is always a line.

Photography museum. FOAM.

Red Light district at night, sex museum, condom stores and all that liberal Amsterdam'ish.

The highest, most different bridge climb I've done. And we had to do it at least twice a day to get to our district, until we found a way around. And our biggest concern was about the old ladies whose friend perhaps lives right on the other side of the  narrow canal, yet, as the bridge is that steep, maybe they'll have to go a loonngg way around to get to their girlfriends house.

Heineken Arena and James Morrison. Another excellent live performer. Pure joy!

Tulip season has started.

Jordan vol 2: Wadi Rum, Aqaba, Al Karak, Dead Sea

From Petra we drove a couple hours towards the Wadi Rum desert, headed first to the Wadi Rum village to register ourselves, then left our car at the designated area at the beginning of the desert and met our host who drove us into the desert in his truck.

Pinkpop vol 2, Megaland, NL

Second time at Pinkpop festival (second year in a row, in fact) and still impressed! The weather was a bit more eventful this year, as last year was a complete heatwave. This year, we got heavy rain on the first day, perfect mild, sunny weather on the second day, and back to the heat on the third day.
