Helsinki, Finland

July 2020

It has been a complicated year for many reasons (mainly the one we all know), so there have not been as many travels as I was hoping for in the beginning of the year. Getting stuck in Morocco in March did definitely not reduce my wish for exploring new destinations, if anything I've been craving for more travels. Still hoping for 2021! Luckily managed to do a couple quickies in summer when things were a bit more calm. First up was just over the Baltic sea to visit our neighbours. It was a hot and sunny weekend and quite felt like being abroad.

We took the city bikes when got to Helsinki and cruised around with them the whole first day. If you exclude the never-ending hills Helsinki is quite a bike friendly city.

Extremely lovely little cafeteria with fresh tasty pastries. Also has a barbecue spot in the yard.

You'll also get photos like that.

We stayed at 'Sky Hostel Helsinki', great location, quick self-checkin, lovely views, nice rooms, fairly priced.

The main reason we came to Helsinki. Serena waterpark! Had not been there for 17 years, still as fun!!

When we were not too sure which bus to take and to where and also quite lazy and hungry and decided to hitchhike.

And to end the weekend on a super high note: found this all you can eat sushi place - Haru sushi! For 16 euros there is a huge selection of sushi, sashimi, maki, some other asian dishes, noodles, salads, sweets, water and coffee. I mean, we were rolling out of there. It did not help that just before leaving we discovered these lovely little eclairs and they suited so good with coffee.

Jordan vol 2: Wadi Rum, Aqaba, Al Karak, Dead Sea

From Petra we drove a couple hours towards the Wadi Rum desert, headed first to the Wadi Rum village to register ourselves, then left our car at the designated area at the beginning of the desert and met our host who drove us into the desert in his truck.

Pinkpop vol 2, Megaland, NL

Second time at Pinkpop festival (second year in a row, in fact) and still impressed! The weather was a bit more eventful this year, as last year was a complete heatwave. This year, we got heavy rain on the first day, perfect mild, sunny weather on the second day, and back to the heat on the third day.
