Early February, headed to Munich for a concert and a fun couple of days with Inx. We got really lucky with the weather. Although early in the morning we landed in complete fog (as you do apparently every time, you fly to Munich), the days were sunny and quite warm for February. So we walked around a lot, did a lot of window-shopping, some actual shopping, ate and sipped a couple cocktails.
Accidentally went to a Mini store for brunch! Such nostalgia. But the cafeteria was great - healthy and tasty!
We were ready to climb New Town Hall's tower on Munich's main square - Marienplatz, but hey, they have an elevator, so opted for that. Definitely lovely views from 85 meters up in the air.
A cafeteria/bar with a great terrace right next to the square. At least during off season - very reasonable prices.
Just next to Marienplatz is Viktualienmarkt - a buzzling square that holds a food market and couple food stalls and seating options.
Currywurst!
More touristing!
The main reason we were in Munich - Snow Patrol. Used to love them when I was 15 (and we probably listened to some songs together, as we became friends with Inx when I was 16). Hadn't listened to them for ages, but discovered their new album in 2024 (it is as good, especially the song "All"). Then discovered they're touring and well there we were!
The concert was held in a cool warehouse style club/performance venue Zenith. It was originally opened in 1918 as a railway repair shop.
On the second day explored the more alternative side of Munich.
The gorgeous Alter Südfriedhof (Old South Cemetery) founded in 1563.
Stopped at a local pub and tasted different local wursts.
Started the terrace season for this year.
Pretzel, obviously!
And had a few sunset drinks at Alte Utting - a boat on a train track. I´d been wanting to go there twice before. First time in summer we were only there for an evening after our performance, and last autumn, it was closed, as it was Monday. Third time's a charm. Next to the bar and the terrace, they have several food spots inside, including apparently some great West African food. For next time!
