August 2025. Had a Lux Express bus free ticket, so decided to take a long weekend trip to Krakow. Had been to Krakow once ten years ago and loved it, so was excited to go back.
A little hike to Zakrzówek lake and surrounding nature trails. Zakrzówek lake was created by flooding a limestone quarry in 1990
The floating pools are free to visit, but I have to say I enjoyed swimming in the lake itself more. An absolutely lovely place tho, especially on hot summer days.
Pierogi! And Borscht with pierogi!
Rynek Główny - Krakow's main square
The Jewish quarter and Kazimierz, due to WWII this area has seen its fair share of misery but today it hosts heaps of cool bars, shops, cafes and restaurants and has the best vibe in town.
Zapiekanki! Best place to grab it is from the stalls on Plac Nowy in Kazimierz, especially Zapiekanki u Endziora.
Krakow Vodka Factory museum. Although I'm not a biggest fan of vodka, the museum is interactive and fun, also gives you decent historic knowledge. The writings are in Polish and Estonian but the interactive part is in Polish, so take audioguides or a guided tour if you wanna understand everything.
The factory is almost 1,100 m2 of space to explore. You'll learn about ancient production methods and recipes, and about the importance and place of vodka in the history, culture and economy over the centuries.
And the tasting in the end was actually delicious!
When on vodka tracks already, headed back to old town to try some more. First up Pijana Wiśnia 'Drunk Cherry,' a cool that specializes in serving sweet cherry liqueur, available hot or cold.
Second stop, Wodka cafe. They have several bars like this over the city, where you can try vodka in flavours you cannot think of. We picked a bunch and were then trying to guess what is what.
A Sunday hike to Little Beskids (Beskid Mały) mountain range
More Pierogi!
Monday morning stroll in town and a plane back to Estonia!
