NORDIC MOVES in Finland was great! How to get a cheap weekend abroad?? Do not book a hostel, aka don't sleep for 40 something hours, BUT, I haven't laughed so hard and so much in a very long time!
Starting from the beginning, had to wake up 5am on saturday, had a nightmare that "I woke up at 7.13am", so, shocked and already searching for a plan B, when discovered it was 3.18am. Couldn't sleep properly after that and was happy when it was ok to wake up at 4.45. The weather outside was extreme, guess there was a snowstorm just before, no roads in Laagri, so I was all snowy and frozen when I reached the bus stop, we had to go to the port from the city centre on foot with Mini and Viiu, already that was funny because it was freezing and windy, we were trying to think out solutions how to walk so that we wouldn't have to face the wind. Met the others in the port and off to the ship. In Helsinki no one knew where we must go, luckily all the right buses came and we found the place. The event was pretty dope. The choreographies were mostly good. All the winners of Juste Debout categories except hip hop were fair! What really made the event were krumping and vogueing battles and the judges showcases! Benny and Javier Ninja... and lil miss Yaz, as a competitor and in the end winner of vogue, wow! And of course Lassandra Ninja, she's insane as always! The dancing was going on on the judges table and on kind of a high spot where DJ Renegade was playing the music.
The afterparty was not worth much. The club was cool, but the organisation was bad, as the event didn't end on time, no one got to the club early and later they played usual club-pop songs, that's not why hip-hop dancers go to club. Around 4 am, the party ended, and we were homeless. The bus terminal was supposed to be open, outside was -17 C. When we got to the terminal, there were drunk people half-unconscious on the floor. We managed to find a spot away from the action. Already felt cosy, when we were disturbed. At one point I really thought we're gonna be attacked.. luckily the mall opened soon, the shops were closed but the hallways were open and empty, our tiredness reached to a climax I guess, laughed hysterically. Around 7 am, it was time to try to find the port. We "successfully" used the map until our brain cells were so frozen we decided to listen to the gut feeling, jumped, danced and hyped ourselves up. Finally in the ship, it was lovely to sit on the upper deck in the front of the ship, talk and laugh some more, while the sun was shining at us, felt like in the middle of summer!
In the end of January went snowboarding to Flachau, Austria with Keiu and her brother. I had missed this.. that's the second time snowboarding in real mountains, and I'll hopefully never have to skip a year again. First time was in Slovakia, then I just learned to snowboard, didn't yet love it, now I do. I guess my cousin Sander taught me to love it.. and things just went from there. For two days we rented a snow-bike a bike with skis on it, which didn't make muscles hurt so bad and the speed was awesome! Also we got time to party and just relax and have good time. Fantastic, thrilling, perfect vacation.
