Perth vol 1

Halloween is near. We just came back from Perth city centre from a nice outdoor cinema in a park. The movie was "Warm bodies". A zombie movie. A zombie romantic comedy to be exact. I gotta say it was funny and sweet, good entertainment!

At first sight, I did not like Perth. It was a pretty plain city. We arrived around midnight, so decided to stay in a hostel for the first two nights, not disturb any couchsurfing hosts and to meet people. Well, we ended up running from people. We arrived on a saturday night, two girls were out partying, so there was just one other lady sleeping in the room. We needed the light for one second, she woke up and in the next half an hour we heard her whole life story. We actually felt sad for her. But from there on things got weirder and in the end what everybody thought she probably just made up all the stories. She  got into everybody's business, complained about everybody and everything and then again woke up at 6 o'clock in the morning and started cleaning up as loudly as possible and did not mind about anybody's privacy. Also we met an older gentleman from Sydney, originally from South-America, who we found out would be very suitable friend for that lady. As the lady loved to complain and talk, the guy didn't really listen and didn't remember things and liked to talk about himself at a random point and repeat all he had already said around 5 times the minimum. At some point he tried to kind of flirt with us, but to begin with, his techniques were very rusty. Oh, and, we got locked into the pool area with him..

After one day we moved to our couchsurfing hosts house. A little away from the city centre, to a suburb called Cottesloe. A pretty pretty place. Basically at the beach, 10 minutes walk. Apparently it's also the neighborhood of the rich and famous. Our host is great. Siv from Sri-lanka. He lives with three roommates (a chef from Canada, a surfing instructor/marketing specialist from Australia and a painter also from australia) in a awesome hipster'ish house, surfboards on the walls and decorated with christmas lights in the back yard.

The first evening we headed to a little bigger suburb Fremantle to a bar called "Little Creatures" to celebrate his friends birthday. Also met a really nice girl from Germany, who we have been hanging out a lot.
Other than that we were sure we have a job when we come here, things happen, and now we don't, so been searching for a job and for ways to make our options work. With ups and downs, at this point it's promising. Also, somebody texted me today and offered a cleaning job here in Perth. The wages seemed good, so for a second we actually considered that for a temporary option. On further questioning tho, it seemed that he (or she) needed a massage in addition to the cleaning. Luckily, we are not that desperate. (yet) At least it was our daytime entertainment and we got a huge laugh out of it. Welcome to Australia is what we heard from couple of people when we told that story.

And there is a huge cockroach somewhere in the room. Help!

Ibiza, Spain

June 2023 Last time we were on a work-trip to Brussels, decided to take advantage of cheap Ryanair mid-Europe flights and flew to Ibiza for a long weekend. Had been wanting to check this party-hub out for some time. It's dreamy, gorgeous, vibrant, fun and quite expensive. So, in my opinion, a long weekend is exactly a right amount of time to be spent there!
