Winter stories vol 2

Stefano came to discover north-east, find polar-bears and freeze his nose off a little bit. I really enjoy this being a tourist and a tourguide at the same time in my own city.

We continued Oscar-nights as there were so many yet to be watched. I'm super delighted "Moonlight" won an Oscar for best movie, as it really deserved it and as a bonus was my favorite as well. Closely followed by "Hidden Figures" and "Manchester by the sea".

I was babysitting my neighbours hyperactive and untiring dog for a week. Without Stefanos help, it would have been quite impossible. Sophie was extra happy tho, she had a playmate every day.

We went to discover Rummu area.
The destination was the now-closed Rummu quarry and the ruins of the former Rummu prison. The prison was established in the 1940s by the Soviet Union. It was built on the lip of a limestone quarry in which the inmates were forced to work. Today, some of the prison can still be seen on land, and some is sticking out from the crystal clear lake waters.

First steps on a frozen lake.

A daytrip to Pärnu. Relaxation at spa, pizza at Steffani's and espresso at a completely empty, quiet little cafeteria. Pärnu is dead at winter, yet becomes super vibrant as soon as the "summer capital" title becomes relevant again.

Explored Helsinki for a day as well. When Estonia was in between winter and something resembling spring, we encountered a proper blizzard in Helsinki and Sara sent us to a tiny island to welcome that! :D

Estonian Independence Day parade. I'm such a non-patriot as this was also my first time to attend the parade.

Estonia 99!

Kadriorg

Cafe Mademoiselle, I adore their cakes and enjoy the Solaris one and it's large glass windows, especially on a sunny afternoon.

Sporty date night with Ingrid, Karel and Stefano. First, went to climb and solve some riddles in the Escape Room - the lost gold mine.

"The legend tells about secret mining that went on under the Sossi hill between 1872-78. When the nearby people found out about the goldmine, the mine collapsed under suspicious circumstances. Since then, no one has managed to find the entrance to the mine that holds the secret of the collapse and an unbelievable amount of gold. When climbing in Ronimisministeerium, you stumble upon the mining elevator, which is the only remaining way into the mine. There is no turning back!"

Played some bowling after and finished with dinner, mojitos and some salsa at Cubanita.

Went to Keiu's for a proper Estonian sauna night and as it was also almost Shove Tuesday, baked some buns.

Jägala waterfall. I mean, I have seen higher, wider, more powerful ones but a frozen waterfall in the midst of snow and ice on a sunny day is quite out of this world.

Tallinn Restaurant Week 2017. Stenhus restaurant. Situated in old town at the medieval-like basement of Schlössle hotel. Altho quite fancy the place has a very relaxed atmosphere. Menu is diverse, contemporary and of good quality.

International Women's Day at work.

Nike Training Day - five hours of non-stop workshops. Well organized event with energizing and motivating vibes.

Rottermann City has many up and coming new spots to discover. "Flammkuchen" or  just "Flamm" is one really lovely one. Great service, delicious flams, wines and ciders, cosy atmosphere and excellent service.

Ibiza, Spain

June 2023 Last time we were on a work-trip to Brussels, decided to take advantage of cheap Ryanair mid-Europe flights and flew to Ibiza for a long weekend. Had been wanting to check this party-hub out for some time. It's dreamy, gorgeous, vibrant, fun and quite expensive. So, in my opinion, a long weekend is exactly a right amount of time to be spent there!
