London

Another long weekend in mid-january 2019.

I was last in London 5 years ago, so it was about time to go back. I have done all the touristy stuff on my previous trips to England long time ago, so now when Ryanair offered back and forth flight tickets for 28 euros, 3 days was a perfect amount of time for hanging out with friends.

The name cracked me up at first. But hey, good enough!

Started Friday night in style.

Thanks Tuuli for hosting and for being as much of a coffee addict in the morning as I am!

We wanted to do the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London to visit the Harry Potter movie sets but the tour was basically sold out until April. So instead visited the platform and the huge souvenirs shop next to it inside St. Pancreas terminal. Me and Anastasia might have bought matching watches with Dobby on them.

After brunch at the college, decided to spend Saturday afternoon outside as the weather was sunny and quite warm (at least in the morning). Walked around in Hyde park, bird-watched, played with squirrels and checked out Kensington Palace. In search for high tea with the queen as Kit would say.

Matt was visiting me in Estonia on the second week of January. Such a great Aussie reunion. Coincidentally we ended up being in London on the same dates as well, so another reunion was in order.

On Sunday morning London greeted us with rain. So it was time to hop on a double decker and ride around town a little, have brunch, chill in a pub, enjoy contemporary art and an exquisite view at Tate Modern and head to jazz night.

By the evening the sky had cleared up and the view was absolutely lovely!

Great to see Liam after 7 years!

Lovely Sunday jazz night at the college bar.

We had time until 2.40 to board a bus to head to Stanstead airport. The downside on so cheap tickets: plane leaving at 6.40 am on a Monday morning. Cheers, Greg and Sofi for staying up with us and for all the fun board and card games. We had not bought bus tickets to airport ahead altho people had warned us about them getting pretty full. We got the 3 last seats on a bus. Living on the edge.

London was such a lot of fun, thank you all and see you soon!

June 2023 Last time we were on a work-trip to Brussels, decided to take advantage of cheap Ryanair mid-Europe flights and flew to Ibiza for a long weekend. Had been wanting to check this party-hub out for some time. It's dreamy, gorgeous, vibrant, fun and quite expensive. So, in my opinion, a long weekend is exactly a right amount of time to be spent there!
