Sorrento - Positano - Amalfi - Napoli

 Italy once more!

November 2021

When Ryanair offers to fly us directly to Napoli with 11.99 one way, we do not say no! Some much appreciated autumny sunny days and new adventures! Although we've been to Italy several times within the last two years, always to new regions, and there is so much more to explore! This time Sorrento and the Amalfi coast!

First up, Sorrento!

Lemon and orange coves lining already lovely streets!

Sorrento is a beautiful coastal town in southern Italy. It is easily accessible by train. We took Circumvesuviana train from Naples (1 hour 20 minutes ride). There is a more expensive 'tourist train' as well, which might be great in summer, as the other does not have air conditioning, but at least in autumn, it was perfectly satisfying!

Corso Italia walking-shopping street. I've always enjoyed off-season travel. It is less people, less rush, cheaper prices, no lines anywhere. Also, often locals have more time and they're friendlier towards tourists.

Christmas was already everywhere in mid-November!

Marina piccola and a quick dip in the sea!

Marina Piccola is the also port of Sorrento, where ferries and hydrofoils to other places in the Gulf of Naples leave.

Found the most awesome restaurant by accident and befriended one of the servers. Food and drinks were already excellent and as we went back several times, he kept surprising us with some good prosecco and such! This carbonara was to die for! If you're ever in the region go and check out L'Osteria Del Buonconvento!

The Horse Shoe bar. A lovely local bar with the coolest owners!

Ice-cream in a lemon. Yes, lemons are a thing here!

It's easy and affordable to travel from Sorrento to Positano, Amalfi and other coastal towns by a public bus. Also, quite entertaining - as the roads are narrow, there are plenty of cars and other vehicles to frustrate the bus-drivers to the max (not that they have too much patience anyhow), so a constant flow of yelling and hand gestures go with the trip. and lastly, the views are absolutely amazing!

Hi, Amalfi town!

A town that gives a name to the area. A beautiful, historic town worth stopping for the views, a quick stroll in the old town and for fresh seafood!

"Hey, it's a church, isn't it?" (Gotta love fellow tourists) :)

Next stop Positano!

The most picturesque, adorable town that is carved into the cliffsides with winding cobblestone alleys and streets filled with enotecas and family-run restaurants, gorgeous views and plenty of beaches. What's not to love? I can only imagine how great it is with summer heat but the emptiness and natural beauty without street vendors, beach chairs and hordes of tourists is equally as charming, if not better!

Spiaggia Grande Beach - for amazing views!

As the evening got chillier, hot chocolate with these views and hints of sunset.

Marina Grande of Sorrento and this lovely colourful fisherman village. It can be reached on foot from downtown Sorrento via the ancient Greek port of Marina Grande, dated the third century B.C.

L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele! Rumoured to be the best pizza! No reservations are accepted, you always have to wait in line (truly) and they serve only 2 kinds of pizza - pizza Margherita and pizza marinara. 3rd time was a charm. I recommend to aim to go during the day, somewhere between lunch and dinner, as the line will be the shortest. But it really really is worth it!!

Chiesa di San Gregorio Armeno! A tiny old church to go witness some of Naples underground city and history.

Last platter of "snacks" at a local restaurant Casa Lazzarone. There was literally food for 8 on this platter for 2, for less than 10 euros. Loco!

Until next time, Italia! x

Ibiza, Spain

June 2023 Last time we were on a work-trip to Brussels, decided to take advantage of cheap Ryanair mid-Europe flights and flew to Ibiza for a long weekend. Had been wanting to check this party-hub out for some time. It's dreamy, gorgeous, vibrant, fun and quite expensive. So, in my opinion, a long weekend is exactly a right amount of time to be spent there!
