Ibiza, Spain

 June 2023

Last time we were on a work-trip to Brussels, decided to take advantage of cheap Ryanair mid-Europe flights and flew to Ibiza for a long weekend. Had been wanting to check this party-hub out for some time. It's dreamy, gorgeous, vibrant, fun and quite expensive. So, in my opinion, a long weekend is exactly a right amount of time to be spent there!

There is more to Ibiza then partying. There is a lot to explore, the weather is great, people are friendly and the views are good. Early June was still sort of off-season. The temperatures were in mid-20's and there was still room on the beach.

Waking up to this spot-on view in the morning.. Apartamentos Vibra Caleta. So much cheaper than a proper hotel would have been and absolutely as comfortable.

And having dinner, or drinks to this view.. Dreamy!

Food in Ibiza, as in rest of Spain, was great, BUT it is a lot more expensive. We did not dare to eat at the waterfront promenade. It was super overpriced and a lot of it was very regular-western food. Walking of to smaller streets already gave more options. There were literally only a couple tapas bars in Sant Antoni de Portmany, but at least two of them (El Bistro de Stephan
and El Rincón de Pepe) were great (both price and quality wise).

Also this breakfast place near our apartment was pretty great!

There was a cool moon, so we were testing if iPhone 13 matches the new Samsung zoom..

Rented a scooter for a day.

Ibiza is quite small, the whole area being 571.6 km2 (approx 35 km length and 20 km width), so it took around half an hour to ride to the furthest end to Portinatx and its beautiful nearby beaches. The roads are decent, just too many roundabouts. Near Portinatx be prepared for some curvy mountain roads.

On the way back, stopped at a lovely town of Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera, known for good cuisine and beautiful markets and boutique shops. Looked at the stalls, went for a cold beer and some sizzling pulpo.

Nightlife in San Antonio is obviously buzzing. Instead of hitting. Pacha, Eden or other mainstream clubs we ended up going to an 80's club for several nights and often started or ended the night at Rio, which is everything, restaurant, bar, nightclub, or rooftop lounge, pick and choose.

One absolute must is to do a boat trip. We went for a boat-party-cruise with Boat Trip Salvador Ibiza. It was super relaxing, yet fun, good music playing all the time. They make delicious sangria and an unlimited amount of wine, beer, sangria, cava, snacks and fruits are included in the price. They also do a 1-2 hour swim stop, where they throw down mattresses, sup-s or snorkelling gear and everyone can swim or do some simple water-sports. The boat comes back at sunset for even more dreamy views, and guess what, we saw dolphins!!

On the last day went to Cala Salada and Cala Saladeta. Did some easy hiking and climbing and enjoyed the gorgeous beaches. A direct bus from San Antonio took us there in 15 minutes.

Hastal la vista, Eivissa!

Flew back to Brussels and spent another half-a day with this fluffball and her humans.
