Tutunup diaries vol 3

Wine wine wine!
BEFORE

and AFTER

So this is pretty much what we do. When we started with the kiwis, everybody was sure the next job is gonna be better, then we got to these wineyards. First 100 rows or so were medium-size trees - we whined. Then, the new sort. And these damn trees are huge. It takes way more time to pluck them and makes you curse way often. Favorite moment from one end of the day. “We've got 8 minutes, and there's 4 trees, Let's go!” And we went crazy on them. (The rows are hu-u-u-ge, we wanted to finish one as otherwise the next morning we would've had to walk back to the end first. But, it usually took around 8 minutes per one tree, no we had 8 per 4.) Anyways, done with this sort now. (And 9.5 hours of work today!) Are we still hoping for the easier times? Well sure! Not. But, there are several sorts to pluck, so on a new week with new energy! Soon enough, we can't exactly call ourselves wine experts, but wine-tree-sorts experts most definitely!

Yesterday was our first official payday. Yay! I was a bit disappointed, as we were promised an hourly rate, but in the end, we mostly work on contract, as, get paid by the count of the trees we do, and the pricing of the trees seems often somewhat ridiculous. Then again, we didn't come to Australia to count every cent and live on as tight budget as possible, it is our first job here, plus the salary is definitely not bad!
