SYDNEY vol 2

When we moved to Melbourne in the beginning of January everybody warned us about terrible, rainy weather and four seasons in one day. We saw none of that, had an absolutely beautiful summer. Three months of heat and sun. Now we moved to Sydney, ok, yes, it is autumn, but it is pretty close to Estonian autumn. Rainy, windy, muddy, chilly. We are secretly a bit amused, as we are convinced that Sydney got the shitty weather because the employer who offered us work here at the Easter Festival and then denied it, earned herself a bunch of bad karma. It has been pretty much constantly raining since the festival started. Hence, we are glad we are leaving early morning tomorrow. Another car-share and road-trip and Byron Bay awaits!

Met with Sinead and Niamh at the Beresford Hotel, hadn't seen them since good old farm days in WA in the end of 2013. We had so much to talk about, so spent the night talking, talking (what a bunch of yappers) and dancing, as the pub has a club upstairs. For the bonus, got a free dessert. Girls and their friends had dinner in the pub as well, the food was late, so the pub offered a free dessert, altho we only joined them for drinks later we made it there at the right moment and joined right in.

Usualcasual birds in Australia. We'd be only see these in zoo in Estonia, if that. On the other hand, as these absolutely beautiful tiny birdies have extremely loud voices and they cannot stop communicating at early hours, maybe it's good we don't have them chilling behind our windows.

Decided to take a look at the Art Gallery of NSW as well, as we had already been to the incredible modern art gallery, didn't expect this to be too great and went an hour before closing time. Don't judge a book by it's cover!! It had some nice traditional and asian collections, but was more contemporary than I thought, and we had to go back the next day for more! On the top floor was a whole gallery for student artworks. Artexpress 2014. Inspiring works by young people applying for different art related scholarships.

Had dinner with Hassan at The Crown Hotel (yes, every pub in Sydney wants to be named as hotel, most of them do offer accommodation as well.) Most pubs also have good daily offers and cheap happy hours. At least in Surry Hills, which is the hip area. Stopped at a Messina ice cream place on the way home. (Voted best ice cream in Australia.) Due to the start of "Game of Thrones" new season (OMG, YES!!!) it has many specials named after the characters from the series. I had a "Lady Margaery" as it contained passionfruit but I'm still craving for a"Khaleesi".

Thank You Hassan for having us at your place for almost a week. A tiniest room, with all our bags in there we pretty much didn't have room to walk, so thanks again for bearing, we had a lot of fun!!

I guess this is goodbye, Sydney, still so positively surprised. As I said, my first choice for living would still be Melbourne but for a tourist I'd definitely recommend Sydney, so much to see and so many hidden gems! I'll be back in June to meet up with my lovely Jihye!!

Ibiza, Spain

June 2023 Last time we were on a work-trip to Brussels, decided to take advantage of cheap Ryanair mid-Europe flights and flew to Ibiza for a long weekend. Had been wanting to check this party-hub out for some time. It's dreamy, gorgeous, vibrant, fun and quite expensive. So, in my opinion, a long weekend is exactly a right amount of time to be spent there!
