Life's a trip every day

On thursday we went to the comedy club again, first guy was hilarious, but the headliner not so much, we all saw he has a disability, but making jokes only on that topic just was not funny. Luckily we had to leave early, to meet the others in Bent Willey's, as it was cold (yes october started and the weather is free-zing, ab 6 degrees, windy, raining, no wonder we're one after another getting sick). Because of the cold, the balcony was closed, which usually creates the awesome atmosphere in Bent, but they had some competitions, Hugo (France) scored at beanbag throwing so the whole bar got free shots, I was competing in hula hoop twirling, another great thursday evening out. Kane brought his guitar to the house, the guys were playing and we were all singing, I have missed music like this! I was teaching Emnet curbing and other vocal techniques, it's awesome to practice myself. Had a freaky experience, when out of random woke up at 5am, shaking, I am pretty sur...

Brighter than the sun

Had the first international dinner in I-house. International food and meeting new people. Later went out to Caro's (Peru) place to celebrate Lindsay's last night here, she's going to study abroad in Germany and France for a year. At night the people who didn't get football tickets the first time tried to catch the tickets that were released at midnight, was fun to watch them panic, because the internet was overloaded, luckily at last everybody got the tickets.. it's gonna be a full stadium! The college games are all free for students but we have to apply for the tickets before. This weeks stand-up comedy was excellent, Roy Haber and Aaron Nemo, had a great laugh! Around midnight arrived back to the house, Chris (UK) decided to cook something, everybody was very skeptical but the food tasted great. My dance teacher sure loves her tv-shows, she constantly talks about them, for example, a guy from West Virginia actually competes in America's got talent, ...

C.O.H.H

Camp of hiphop 2011 at Käsmu! Very international this time. Great workshops: 5 classes each day, every teacher was a master in his/her style. Learned a lot. My favorite classes were: Kapela's ( far ) house and hype classes, but also Valja's ( rue )  old school  hip-hop and Meech's ( far ) hip-hop. I believe I learned the most there and for example Kapela gives so much energy and motivation to do extremely hype choreos with all the power left in me when I'm already so so tired and out of breath. Grateful!

Positivus

Second Positivus festival @ Salacgriva, Latvia. This time we did not get the paradise-like weather like it was last year, we also didn't have our special parking-spot at the Mini Cooper's area. At least we thought so. We were planning to sleep in the car and were not excited to sleep in the middle of thousands of other cars on a field quite far from the festival area.  We were with friends on the tents area when suddenly noticed Mini Coopers coming, they opened the special area and hell yes we instantly got there too, by very interesting trails.

Dance, love, live

Went to see some relatives with my mom in Pärnu and while in the neighbourhood went to Kurgja, a small place near Vändra which is  also the birthplace of C.R Jakobson and there's a museum for him, the place is in the woods, there are fields, farm animals, a river with a mill and a beautiful long bridge. The air is fresh and boosts with natural energy. We went to see a play. A piece by Eugene O'Neill " Desire under the Elms " produced by Roman Baskin. I have seen "Long day's journey into night" by O'Neill and I plan to read more of his work. All his pieces have passion, tragedy and unseen twists. Rasmus Kaljujärv, Katariina Lauk and Felix Kark played the main characters and they were fabulous in their roles. The plot is about the thin line between love and hate. People don't often recognize the line, feelings change so quickly they don't realise they can't take back their actions any more. The tragedy in O'Neills plays comes from his ...

You know you're from Estonia if:

1. You use the word ‘normal’ if something is ok. 2. When visiting friends abroad you bring along a box of Kalev chocolate. 3. You attended a song festival at least once either as a performer or as a spectator. 4. You know that going to the sauna is 80% about networking and 20% about washing 5. You are nationalistic about Skype (it is actually an Estonian company) 6. ‘Kohuke’ belongs to your menu 7. You declare your taxes on the internet like all modern people 8. You actually believed for a while that Latvians had 6 toes per foot when you heard that as a child 9. You are convinced that Estonia is very strategically located 10. You spent at least one midsummer in Saaremaa, Hiiumaa or one of the smaller islands 11. You can quote films like “Viimne reliikvia” and “Siin me oleme” 12. You spit three times around your left shoulder for good luck 13. Words like “veoauto”, “täieõiguslik” or “jää-äär” sound perfectly pronouncable to you 14. You like bold statements, su...

Wintery fun - Finland and Austria

Christmas and more winter stories

"The first christmas you remember having as the greatest day of your life, family is all together, there are loads of presents, cookies, the magic is alive! And before you know it, you grow up, work and school and girlfriends/boyfriends take over and christmas becomes more of an obligation, in remind of what´s lost not what´s possible, and all the trees and presents, even the mistletoe can´t change that. And then when you grow older, you´re so desperate to get that magic back, you´ll do anything to be able to feel like you did that first christmas." (Glee)
