Tutunup diaries vol 4: wonderful weekends

Visited our local pub friday evening. Cute but nothing too much going on, so we were back home around 10 and almost off to sleep at 11pm, when Clair and Bruce came back from a concert and we ended up chatting around the kitchen table, listening to her favorite band British India and drinking some Bundaberg until much later.

Saturday morning after a breakfast at a local coffee-shop off to Bunbury. On our way from Perth to Capel (which seems like so long ago) the bus stopped in Bunbury for about half an hour and we totally wrote off that town. After hearing lots of good things about it, still decided to give it a try.

Hitchhiking vol 2. A Capel local Kyle took us straight to the town centre, before showing us beautiful beaches and coastline.

From there on we didn't see much of the town as we ran into Darren. A guy who did some beer tasting in a liquor store in Capel a week ago. He was meeting his college mates, as in Australia the summer is near and the semester just ended. He invited us along and we joined him and about 15 other people in a pub called Trafalgars. It was the hottest day of this spring yet. Emphasis on the word spring, because it was 33-35 degrees in shade.

We were sitting outside and chatting for hours. Awesome group of people! In the end got a glimpse of Aussie drama as well. A lady who was older than all of us but studied with them as well, at first looked like an awesomely honest and straightforward person. Until, she crossed the line, wayyy too much. I bet several glasses of red wine were to blame as well. Her last glass she spilled on Josh who dared to get into an argument with her, or more like said something she did not approve. It is interesting how people think they can say it all, but then cannot handle tiniest bit of honesty they feel is directed towards them. It is hard to describe the moment with words, but it felt like straight out of a soap opera.

We bought ourselves early christmas presents too, something we've been wanting and waiting for for ages. LONGBOARDS!!!!! Practice, practice! PS already today, we were brave enough to ride them to a local store, and didn't break any bones.

Saturday would've been purrr-fect, if we would've been more successful with our dinner. We decided to cook with Marion and Sarah, and decided to go for junk food for once. Deep-fried some fries and chicken nuggets, aannnndd food poisoning it is! Yesterday evening we just felt heavy so couldn't suspect too much, watched the classic "Titanic" (felt like New Years Day - full of food and Titanic was on) and relaxed, but the night and half of today were not so pleasant.

Luckily, life seemed to come back into us by late afternoon and another hitchhike to Busselton for grocery shopping, to not waste the whole day. Bruce took us to the highway. And from there a truck appeared like magic the moment we raised our hand to took us to the city. At some point the driver was worried if we are wearing (or at least holding onto) a seatbelt, the fact that we were both sitting on the front seat, as he didn't have any more seats, didn't seem to bother him.

People were laughing that we are quicker hitchhiking back and forth to a city 26 km away, than most going by their own car.

June 2023 Last time we were on a work-trip to Brussels, decided to take advantage of cheap Ryanair mid-Europe flights and flew to Ibiza for a long weekend. Had been wanting to check this party-hub out for some time. It's dreamy, gorgeous, vibrant, fun and quite expensive. So, in my opinion, a long weekend is exactly a right amount of time to be spent there!
