Great Ocean Road to Melbourne

Hello Melbourne!! What an elegant, vibrant, great city - was the first impression. Or, almost the first. The absolute first was: WTF weather????

Came off the train in the city centre. Weather: sunny, nice, summery. Walked to the tram stop. Weather: freezing wind, and temperature drop around 5 degrees. Got into a tram. Weather: heavily raining. Got a bit lost and rode too far in a tram. Got off. Weather: cold and windy, not raining. Got into our right address. Had to walk around 200 meters down the street. Weather: colder than before, windier than before, raining extremely heavily. Got into the apartment, met with our couchsurfing host Andres and some of his latin friends. Had a glass of wine and chatted for a bit. Weather: sunny and summery!!!!

Andres and his roommate Esteban are from Columbia, Andres is learning English, Esteban started with that but picked it up quickly enough to get a work in a pizzeria and does long hours there now. Besides them a scottish couple lives in the apartment, all really sweet and talkative! Had a good wine&cheese ish evening with them. Now, applying for work and searching for a place of our own.

Before coming into the city, we stayed for 1,5 days in Werribee, a suburb of Melbourne, 37 km away, also couchsurfing. I gotta admit this was the first CS experience I did not thoroughly enjoy. Just the people were not the people I would enjoy spending time with or really get along with. The host Ro, was from India, we saw him only on the first evening, when he was fighting with his former couch-surfer, now girlfriend. Another roommate was from Somalia. the guy believed he is the most slickest, smoothest, sweetest, most honest and attractive guy in the world. Honey, if you feel the need to stress it all out to people you just met, you really are not. The third almost-roommate, also from India was nice but expecting way too much. And their rules for dishwashing.. They were inspecting each other and everybody else doing it. Everything had to be spotless, there couldn't be fingerprints anywhere, sink had to be dry and shining, I mean, it was just ridiculous. I'm not saying it was all bad, but it really really made me want to find my own place quickly. We did have fun playing truth&truth and dancing salsa.

Before we left, cooked some spicy Chinese food for everybody.

Compared to the west, food in supermarkets and also alcohol seems to be cheaper in Victoria. We were missing fruits, finally bought a bunch!!!

We left Adelaide towards Melbourne on 2nd of January. Decided to go through Great Ocean Road. It is lovely that they do not ask money to enter the road, whereas pretty much everywhere else in the world they ask something for entering the scenic routes, and Great Ocean Road is by far the most beautiful I have seen. Made heaps of stops, drove Max and Björn crazy and had a very nice two-day-trip.

Ibiza, Spain

June 2023 Last time we were on a work-trip to Brussels, decided to take advantage of cheap Ryanair mid-Europe flights and flew to Ibiza for a long weekend. Had been wanting to check this party-hub out for some time. It's dreamy, gorgeous, vibrant, fun and quite expensive. So, in my opinion, a long weekend is exactly a right amount of time to be spent there!
